YouTube and PRS – peace please

YouTube started to block videos and blaming PRS for the move. PRS is blaming YouTube. So basically Youtube and PRS Music are having trouble agreeing…

Both are playing hard to get, and both need to come to a conclusion soon as it is in both parties’ interest to do so. YouTube can’t have blocked premium music videos, and PRS needs YouTube who has the widest range of audience and therefore a high reach for it’s music.

However I think YouTube is on a more advantage here than PRS, as YouTube doesn’t block the videos uploaded by users or musicians, therefore any music video blocked up by PRS can be listened to by another user’s version that is uploaded. Maybe less video… but the sound is there! BUT I don’t blame PRS, musicians need their earnings coming in as well. So this kind of price-based disagreement from YouTube doesn’t reflect so nicely on its brand.
